First introduced to the public in 1986 the coins contain 99.9% pure silver.
The Silver Eagle has a face value of One Dollar and is struck only in 1oz.
On the front of the coin (Obverse) is an Image of the Classic "Walking Liberty" design by Adolph A. Wienman.
On the back of the coin (Reverse) John Mercanti is credited with the design.
The coins are produced in San Francisco, Philadelphia & West Point, NY.
