Louisiana State Quarter:
The state quarter illustrates the Pelican which is the state bird, a trumpet which signifies the kind of music which is associated with the state. Jazz, ragtime, and the blues originated in Louisiana over 100 years ago.The quarter also depicts the area that was acquired in the Louisiana Purchase which the US bought from the French in 1803 for $15 million dollars.
Louisiana became a state April 30 1812.
