First offered to the public by the U.S. Mint in 1986 at four different karat weights with varying mintage for each as follows:
(1oz-1,362,650, 1/2 oz-599,566, 1/4oz-726,031, 1/10oz-912,609).
The face value of these coins also vary at $5, $10, $25 & $50.
On the front of the coin (Obverse) is a sketch of Lady Liberty or Augustus Saint-Gaudens.
On the back of the coin (Reverse) Is a male eagle carrying an olive branch over a female eagle in her nest with her hatchlings.
